WHY VAGON
● 01
Installs in one command
OpenCode has an install script for Linux, plus npm, and Chocolatey or Scoop on Windows. Run one in a terminal on your Vagon computer; nothing goes on your laptop.
Permissions, then isolated
OpenCode’s permissions let you allow, ask or deny edits and commands, and the Plan agent denies edits by default. It all runs on a separate Vagon VM, away from your laptop’s files.
MCP server, app and GPU together
Add an app’s MCP server to your OpenCode config on the same computer. RTX-enabled NVIDIA GPUs and 149 preinstalled apps, or install your own.
Watch it, take over, reset
It is a live desktop in your browser: grab the mouse when OpenCode gets stuck. Reset to a clean image after a risky run; shut down and the meter stops.
SETUP
● 02
01
Pick Windows for the app guides (SolidWorks needs Windows) or Ubuntu for coding and browser work. Add your apps and Vagon installs them before you connect.
02
Open a terminal on the Vagon computer, run OpenCode’s install script, then start opencode in your project folder and run /connect to add your own model provider and API key. Nothing gets installed on your laptop.
TERMINAL · VAGON COMPUTER
Ubuntu shown. On Windows use choco install opencode, scoop install opencode or npm install -g opencode-ai from OpenCode’s docs. Vagon supplies no AI access or keys.
03
OpenCode reads AGENTS.md for project rules, so put build and test rules there; /init creates it. Add each app’s MCP server under the mcp key in opencode.json and check it with opencode mcp list.
MCP servers
Add a server with the guided command, then check its status.
AGENTS.md
Global rules go in ~/.config/opencode/AGENTS.md. Run /init in a project to create an AGENTS.md in the repository root.
04
Pick how much OpenCode may do. Build, the default agent, has all tools enabled; Plan denies file edits by default. Press Tab to switch agents, or set allow, ask or deny per tool under permission in opencode.json.
FIRST RUN
A look-only first run in Plan, with a prompt from the Codex + SolidWorks guide.

WORKING WITH OPENCODE
● 05
AGENTS.md, config and agents
AGENTS.md holds the rules. OpenCode reads it from the project root and from ~/.config/opencode/AGENTS.md. It falls back to CLAUDE.md only when no AGENTS.md exists.
opencode.json holds defaults. Personal settings live in ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json. An opencode.json in the repo root is merged on top.
Two built-in agents. Build has all tools enabled; Plan denies file edits. Press Tab to switch between them during a session.
Permissions. Each tool takes allow, ask or deny. Plan does not restrict bash, so set bash to ask on it for a strict look-only run.
MCP on the Vagon computer
Define servers under mcp. A local server has type local and a command array; a remote one has type remote and a url. opencode mcp list shows status.
Sign in when needed. opencode mcp auth <name> signs in to OAuth servers. opencode mcp logout <name> removes the saved credentials.
Pick up a saved chat. opencode --continue reopens the last session; /sessions lists the rest.
You bring the model and licenses. Run /connect to add your own provider and API key, or use OpenCode Zen. Apps such as SolidWorks or Premiere Pro need your own license on the computer.
