HOW TO USE GPU
Daz Studio Pro (v.4 and newer)
Daz Studio Pro is a powerful 3D rendering tool used for creating stunning visual scenes. To maximize performance, you can enable GPU acceleration to boost rendering speed, particularly when using NVIDIA’s Iray engine, which leverages CUDA cores for high-speed ray tracing.
How to Enable GPU Acceleration and Denoising in Daz Studio Pro
Launch Daz Studio Pro
Open the app from the default path:C:\Daz 3D\Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\DAZStudio.exe
Configure GPU for Rendering
On the left panel, select the Render Settings tab.
Under the Advanced tab, ensure NVIDIA Iray is selected as the engine.
Under both Photoreal Devices and Interactive Devices, ensure that only the GPU is checked (uncheck CPU and OptiX Prime).
Denoising Setup
In Draw Settings > Editor tab, select NVIDIA Iray as the DrawStyle.
Under the Filtering menu, ensure Post Denoiser Available and Post Denoiser Enable are both set to On.
These steps ensure that Daz Studio uses the GPU effectively for both rendering and denoising, accelerating the process significantly.
Top Tips to Speed Up Daz Studio
Adjust Path Length
Lowering the Max Path Length (found in Render Settings > Optimization) can limit how many bounces light rays take, speeding up render times. Keep this number between 6 and 8 for a balance between quality and speed, especially for scenes with complex lighting.Optimize Draw Settings
Under Draw Settings, increase the Response Threshold and turn Inactive Viewport Delay off. This prevents the viewport from constantly redrawing, which can significantly slow down performance when moving through large scenes.Use Viewport Optimizations
Go to Edit > Preferences > Interface and set Display Optimization to Best for smoother viewport performance when navigating complex scenes. Additionally, use Perspective View instead of Camera views, which can slow manipulation when lights are parented to the camera.Avoid Pointing Cameras at Objects
Pointing a camera directly at a figure or object (like the character’s eyes) can reduce real-time navigation speed, so avoid this if possible.
