HOW TO USE GPU
Marmoset Toolbag (v.4 and newer)
Marmoset Toolbag is a real-time rendering tool widely used for 3D modeling, texturing, and baking. With support for GPU acceleration and RTX ray tracing, it delivers fast, high-quality rendering. Here's how to enable GPU and RTX acceleration in Marmoset Toolbag.
How to Enable GPU and RTX Accelerated Rendering in Marmoset Toolbag
Launch Marmoset Toolbag
Open the application from the default location:C:\Program Files\Marmoset\Toolbag 4\toolbag.exe
Enable RTX for Supported GPUs
Go to Edit > Preferences.
For Pascal 10XX or RTX GPUs, select Accelerated or RTX from the ray tracing engine dropdown.
If using older GPUs, select Generic for compatibility.
By enabling RTX, you'll experience faster, real-time ray-traced rendering and denoising, leading to higher-quality visuals and better rendering performance.
Top Tips to Speed Up Marmoset Toolbag Performance
Update GPU Drivers
Ensure your NVIDIA drivers are always updated, especially if you’re using RTX features. Updated drivers provide performance improvements and unlock the latest optimizations for RTX ray tracing and DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), which boosts rendering speed.Optimize Scene Complexity
For faster rendering, simplify your scene by reducing texture resolution and mesh complexity. You can also disable unnecessary viewport features like shadows or ambient occlusion when working on less critical elements.Use DLSS for Upscaling
If your GPU supports NVIDIA DLSS, enable it to upscale images without losing visual quality, which helps maintain high frame rates during rendering. This feature is available for RTX cards and drastically improves real-time performance in heavy scenes.Switch to GPU Baking
If you’re performing texture baking, make sure you switch to GPU Baking under Preferences for faster bakes compared to CPU processing, especially when working on high-poly meshes.
